Corrosion management may quietly be becoming one of the most important digital transformation conversations in industrial operations.
For years, many integrity programs have relied on disconnected workflows:
inspection records in one system,
process data in another,
engineering analysis somewhere else,
and operational decisions often buried in emails, spreadsheets, or static reports.
The challenge was never simply a lack of dashboards.
The real challenge has been creating trusted, defensible operational intelligence that supports:
- asset integrity
- reliability
- risk reduction
- engineering decision-making
As regulatory pressure, operational complexity, and aging infrastructure continue to increase, static documentation alone may no longer be enough.
What’s becoming increasingly important is operational context:
connecting corrosion data, process conditions, inspection history, risk prioritization, and field operations into workflows that improve visibility, traceability, and confidence in decision-making.
One of the more interesting recent industry discussions I’ve seen comes from AMPP around digitalized corrosion control documentation and its role in improving plant reliability and asset integrity.
The conversation appears to be moving beyond digitizing records alone — toward creating connected operational intelligence that supports defensible integrity management.
That may ultimately become one of the defining shifts in industrial digital transformation.
